Disclosure: Carolinas Dev is an answering service and virtual receptionist provider. Our "best-of" comparisons include our OWN service, and we earn revenue when readers book a demo with us. This page explains exactly how we keep those comparisons honest despite that material connection.

We rank our best-of lists against seven fixed criteria — 24/7 coverage, AI availability vs. hold time, intake depth, appointment booking, integrations, bilingual support, and transparent onboarding. We list our own service among the options, take no payment for placement, publish no fabricated reviews or ratings, and date every page so you can see how current it is.

The criteria we evaluate against

Every option on every best-of page is described against these same seven criteria, using the provider's own publicly stated capabilities. The criteria are fixed in advance — they don't change to flatter any particular option, including ours.

24/7 coverage
Whether the service answers every call around the clock — nights, weekends, and holidays — versus business hours or overflow only.
AI availability vs. hold time
Whether callers are answered instantly with no queue, or can be placed on hold at peak times.
Intake depth
Whether the service captures a structured intake — reason for calling, urgency, contact details — and routes it to you as a usable summary, versus taking a bare message.
Appointment booking
Whether appointments are booked onto your calendar during the call, versus a callback request.
Integrations
Whether the service writes to your calendar, CRM, and inbox without manual re-entry.
Bilingual support
Whether English-and-Spanish coverage is available, and during what hours.
Transparent onboarding
Whether setup, scripting, and routing rules are clear, without per-minute billing surprises.

How we keep it honest

  • We disclose our material connection up front. Carolinas Dev publishes these comparisons and is one of the listed options. That disclosure appears above the fold on every best-of page, in line with the FTC's Endorsement Guides.
  • No pay-for-placement. No provider can pay to appear, to rank higher, or to be described more favorably. The order on a page is presentation, not a scored ranking.
  • No fabricated reviews or ratings. We do not invent star ratings, review counts, or aggregate scores, and we do not emit Review or AggregateRating structured data. Our lists use ItemList markup only. Where we cite a statistic, it carries a named source and year.
  • Competitors described factually, neutrally. We summarize each provider's capabilities from its own public website, without endorsement, disparagement, or invented quotes. If we can't verify a claim, we don't make it.
  • We judge ourselves on the same criteria. Carolinas Dev is listed on its merits, against the identical seven criteria — including where an always-on AI is a genuine advantage and where a buyer might prefer something else.
  • Kept current — without fake freshness. Every best-of page carries a dateModified in its Article schema, and we bump it only when the content actually changes — never to fake recency for ranking.
